In 2014, we estimate that Gap Inc. employees volunteered more than 558,000 hours to their communities. We encourage our employees to form long-term relationships with community organizations, knowing that their time and talents can make a deeper impact when they are committed to one consistent partner.
We hear time and time again that volunteering is one of the reasons so many people come to Gap Inc. – and why they stay. Employees are offered benefits for the time and money they give to the community through programs like Money for Time, Field Team
Grants, and donation match. We also have a special program for our MVP volunteers, our Community Leaders.
Community Leaders (CLs) are the heart and soul of our volunteer efforts. They are the key connectors in our communities, and they live what it means to Be what’s possible. They inspire their teams to volunteer, lead the charge by example, and fuel a movement that rallies all of us to create positive change. To date, we have more than 3,600 registered CLs in seven countries around the world.
Across the globe, thousands of Gap Inc. employees are leading volunteering on their teams. These people make it possible for our company to create real change in the communities where we live and work.
“I volunteer to give others what I am already blessed to have – opportunities, love, and resources.”
“Being a CL is a great way to take on a leadership role. My team has become super invested in our community work!”
“Being a CL means leading by example. My role has enabled me to get our teams involved in broader projects in our community.”
“My goal is to improve the well-being of young people by offering them the support they need. Volunteering helps me achieve that goal one individual at a time.”
“I love being a CL because I enjoy creating opportunities for others to fall in love with volunteering. It’s contagious, and we all have the capacity to make positive changes in our community.”
